If you were injured in Schertz, the county where your case is filed depends on where the accident happened. Schertz straddles Bexar, Comal, and Guadalupe counties. Most Schertz cases are filed in Guadalupe County, where the courthouse is in Seguin. AHD Law represents injured clients across all three counties from our San Antonio office with no fee unless we recover.
Serving Schertz from downtown San Antonio
Our office is at 315 E Commerce St in San Antonio, about 25 minutes south of Schertz on I-35. We do not have a second office in Schertz, and we do not pretend to. The drive does not affect your case. We handle everything by phone, email, and in person at our office or a location that works for you.
Which court applies
Schertz is one of the few Texas cities that straddles three counties: Bexar, Comal, and Guadalupe. This confuses people about where to file. If your accident happened on the Guadalupe County side of Schertz, your case is filed at the Guadalupe County Courthouse in Seguin, 211 W Court St, Seguin, TX 78155. If it happened on the Bexar County side, it is filed in San Antonio. If it happened on the Comal County side, it is filed in New Braunfels. We determine the correct venue based on the exact location of your accident.
What makes Schertz different
The I-35 and FM 3009 interchange is a high traffic area with ongoing construction as Schertz grows. The Loop 1604 approach sees heavy commuter and commercial traffic. Construction zone crashes on FM 3009 are a recurring claim type, and work zone liability can extend to contractors and the state.
Randolph Air Force Base sits just east of Schertz. Military families stationed here face unique issues: TRICARE medical liens that must be resolved in your settlement, the Feres doctrine limiting claims against the military itself for on base incidents, and deployment complicating filing deadlines. If you are a service member or military family, call us early so we can work around deployment schedules.
Schertz is a growth corridor. Construction traffic on FM 3009 means more work injury claims from the building trades, and more vehicle crashes in active work zones. If your employer is a non subscriber to workers' comp, you may be able to sue directly for full damages including pain and suffering.
